FAQ

Common questions.

Not sure if you qualify or how to get started? Here are the questions we hear most often.

Who is eligible to apply for DME funding?

DME funding is open to Dutch artists, managers, labels, booking agencies and other music professionals with a demonstrable connection to the Dutch music sector. Applicants must be based in the Netherlands or have their primary professional activity in the Dutch music industry. Each programme has specific eligibility criteria. The Kickstart Regulation is aimed at emerging artists with limited international track record, while Showcase Support and Marketing Regeling are open to more established acts preparing international releases or live activity.

How do I apply and when are the deadlines?

All three programmes accept rolling applications throughout the year. There is no fixed deadline. Submit your application at least six weeks before your planned activity or release date to allow processing time. Applications are reviewed by the DME team and, for larger grants, by an independent advisory committee. You can start your application via the Funding page or email funding@dutchmusicexport.nl to discuss your project before submitting.

Can I attend a trade mission or showcase event without receiving funding?

Yes. Some DME events, trade missions and network sessions are open to Dutch music professionals who are not currently receiving funding. Participation in the Dutch Music Hub at Miami Music Week, for example, includes networking, panels and showcases that are accessible to registered delegates. Check the Events page for specific participation details and registration links. For trade missions where travel support is involved, priority is given to active grant recipients, but professionals can often join as self-funded participants.
